The Cupra brand, relatively recently decisively disassociated from the parent company Seat.
In full accordance with global trends, a brand with a crossover named Formentor debuted, and the Spaniards only needed a year to prepare a serial modification.
It was supposed to be shown in Geneva, but for obvious reasons, Cupra was forced to simply publish images and some technical details.
The Cupra brand presents its all-terrain vehicle as an alternative to the usual hot hatch, and the motor range for Formentor has been prepared accordingly.
The crossover retained the same hybrid powerplant that debuted on the concept, and now it seems to be used on the VW Golf GTE (although Cupra doesn't talk about it directly).
The 1.4-liter turbo engine and electric motor together develop 245 hp. and 400 Nm of torque. An alternative would be a pure gasoline engine - a 2-liter 4-cylinder with a return of 310 hp. and the same 400 Nm.
Both power engines have to work with a 7-speed robot, but only a gasoline engine accompany all-wheel drive.
In addition, the crossover chassis was also equipped with the Dynamic Chassis Control system with four settings - Comfort, Sport, CUPRA (obviously the most sporty one) and Individual.
